The Corolla is an iconic example of what a compact car can be and what it can accomplish. Features and options of the 2021 Corolla Hatchback
The trim level lineup for the Corolla Hatchback in 2021 is quite simple. The lineup begins with the SE trim, and goes up from there with the blacked-out SE Nightshade Edition and the top XSE. Interestingly the SE and the XSE both come with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT, but the SE Nightshade Edition comes standard with the CVT.
When it comes to performance, all trim levels employ a 2.0-liter powerplant that is capable of outputting up to 168 horsepower and an equally impressive 151 pound-feet of torque. Both SE trims with CVTs get up to 32-city and 41-highway mpg, though the top XSE gets a little less at 30-city and 38-highway mpg. The manual options provide slightly reduced fuel economy with 28-city and 37-highway mpg on both the SE and the XSE. If you want the added connection with the driving experience that a manual transmission provides, then the small hit in fuel economy is likely worth it.
When it comes to features, all trim levels provide standard things like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM capability, radar cruise control, automatic high beams, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and more!
If you want to move up in luxury and trim level, then the XSE gives you even more features with a dual-zone automatic climate control system, leather seating with heated front seats, blind spot monitoring, and more.
Of course, no matter which trim you select, you get all the advantages of a Corolla plus the advantages of a hatchback with additional storage room and ease of access in back. In all, behind the rear seats you have 17.8 cubic-feet of cargo capacity in this hatchback which is 4.7 cubic-feet more than the sedan has to offer.
