The trim level lineup for the 2021 Highlander Hybrid begins with the Hybrid LE and goes up from there in terms of luxury and price with the Hybrid XLE, Hybrid Limited, and the top Hybrid Platinum. The Hybrid LE comes standard with seating for eight, which is also available on the Hybrid XLE and the Hybrid Limited. However, starting with the Hybrid XLE and above, the second row comes standard with captain’s seating which increases second-row luxury, but reduces seating to seven.
Under the hood, all trim levels enjoy the same hybrid powerplant which is available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The gasoline engine alone gives you 186 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. However, the electric motor increases that horsepower output to a combined net rating of 243.
The base Hybrid LE trim gives you a ton of features with blind-spot monitoring, LED fog lights, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of safety technology for features like radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and more.
Above that, the Hybrid XLE trim adds wireless phone charging, SofTex-trimmed seats with a heated front row, and a power moonroof. The Hybrid Limited adds leather seating with ventilated front seats, a hands-free power liftgate, and a premium JBL sound system. The top Hybrid Platinum increases your 8-inch infotainment system to a 12.3-inch infotainment system. The moonroof is upgraded to a panoramic moonroof, and you get a bird’s eye view camera for a full 360-degree eye on your surroundings.
