The base 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 295 horsepower, and 263 pound-feet of torque is powerful enough to assist you with your chores and a bit more than that if required. The V-6 comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and the power is sent to the front wheels. All-wheel-drive is available as an option. The Highlander can also be configured with a fuel-efficient 2.5-liter L4HV four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors that combine to produce 243 combined horsepower. For the number crunchers out there, the gasoline-powered Highlander can hit the 60 MPH mark from a standstill in 6.7 seconds while the hybrid-engine-powered Highlander can do the same in about 7.3 seconds.
The Highlander is available in eight trims/configurations – L, LE, Hybrid LE, XLE, Hybrid XLE, XSE, Bronze Edition, Limited, Hybrid Limited, Platinum, and Hybrid Platinum. Features are offered based on the trim. The Highlander’s cabin is roomy and offers enough space for all its passengers. Fabric-trimmed seats come as standard on the base trims and upgrade to leather-upholstery along with 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, eight-way power-adjustable front passenger’s, heated, and ventilated seat functions on the higher trims. The base trims have an eight-passenger capacity while the higher trims get seven-passenger seating.
The Highlander is equipped with a user-friendly eight-inch touchscreen display.
